ASK THE EXPERT: Is the Regenokine Procedure being performed in Germany a legitimate procedure to help my pain?
Question: Is the Regenokine Procedure being performed in Germany a legitimate procedure to help my pain? – submitted by Dave B. from Bristow, VA
Answer from Topic Expert, Dr. Thomas Schuler of the Virginia Spine Institute: The Regenokine Procedure is much like the philosophy we practice here at the Virginia Spine Institute in that it is a multidisciplinary approach. This specific procedure being performed in Germany happens to be a combination of therapy, vitamins and counseling.
We believe that most spinal conditions can be treated with proper fitness, ergonomics, nutrition, and healthy perspective. Unfortunately not all conditions are amenable to such treatment. What I recommend to my patients is to eat healthy, eliminate smoking, sustain a healthy weight, maintain excellent core strength and flexibility, practice proper ergonomics, obtain adequate amounts of sleep, control stress, and maintain a positive outlook. A yoga program and/or Pilates program will go far in accomplishing core strength and flexibility. Quite simply, in our sedentary lifestyles (some people more than others) we just need to get moving and be active. Personally, I am actively engaged in a cross training program for my own fitness which combines parts of yoga and Pilates with which I have achieved my personal fitness goals. The bottom line is that there are many options when seeking treatment for chronic pain, the key is to find the right combination for your unique situation.
