New Smoking Cessation Program

Posted on: 02/17/2009

Take Control of Your Smoking, Your Moods and Your Life

The Virginia Spine Institute is proud to announce our new Smoking Cessation Program. The five week, six session program includes information about: health risks associated with tobacco use; preparing a plan to quit; stress management techniques; nutrition to help prevent weight gain; prescription medications to help with withdrawals and craving; and strategies to prevent relapse. The program is $100 and is scheduled on Wednesday evenings.

Why quit? Most people do not know that 20 minutes after you stop smoking, the body begins to heal and blood pressure and pulse become normal. After 48 hours, nerve endings start to regrow and sense of smell and taste improve. After one to nine months, coughing, congestion and shortness of breath are decreased. After one year, the risk of dying from a heart disease is half that of a smoker. Call (703) 709.1114 ext. 161 or e-mail stopsmoking@spinemd.com to register for upcoming classes or to learn more about treatment options.
