Dr. Schuler founded The Virginia Spine Institute in 1992, revolutionizing spinal health care in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. Through his visionary leadership as the President and Scientific Advisor to The Spinal Research Foundation, Dr. Schuler is striving to improve spinal health care for all Americans. He is the Spine Consultant to the Washington Redskins and frequently treats professional and amateur athletes. He is the Program Director of the Virginia Spine Institute Physician Assistant Fellowship Program. Dr. Schuler is a Fellow in both the American College of Spine Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He is a Member in the North American Spine Society and the Young Presidents Organization. He is also a founding member of the Lumbar Spine Study Group.

Dr. Schuler is an expert in the treatment of the cervical and lumbar spine. He is an innovator in the field of spinal surgery and a pioneer in the development of non-operative treatment strategies for spinal disorders.
