Our practice is not defined by the awards we have earned or the number of patients we have served...
What gives meaning to Virginia Spine Institute (VSI) is our people! The leadership team at Virginia Spine Institute, led by Dr. Thomas C. Schuler, Founder and CEO, has created a culture of success focused on excellence and future growth and development. It is important that our entire team is satisfied in their work and dedicated to delivering excellence in patient care and the overall VSI experience. Our rich corporate culture is built upon the values of Caring, Excellence, Leadership, Teamwork, Innovation, and Comprehensive Care. The implementation of these values has led to higher employee retention rates and stronger employee engagement. These core values are at the heart of actions taken by each employee, everyday. With the mission to provide the best quality spinal healthcare with the greatest patient satisfaction, our award-winning practice has grown into a nationally-recognized provider and leading innovator in spinal health. Although each of the positions within the organization has a unique set of required attributes and skills, we expect each candidate to embody our six core values and believe in our corporate mission and purpose.

WATCH Virginia Spine Institute's Annual Education Day Highlight Reel
Our organization gives a whole new meaning to 'workplace wellness' by strengthening employees’ minds and bodies through continuing education on a weekly basis and daily subsidized group exercise and wellness classes. These two functions come together on our annual Education Day which comprises a day-long series of curriculum combined with physical challenges. In addition to making our patients feel valued, it is important to recognize the hard work and dedication of each team member. With the stress and demands of our industry, we embody the motto “work hard, play hard.” Reward comes in the form of monthly department recognition events, "work birthday" celebrations and gifts, concerts, black tie galas, and in office bake-offs…just to name a few. Relationships continue to be built beyond the work day resulting in higher office camaraderie, trust within teams, and strong dedication to the overall mission of the organization. After all, we’ve got each others’ BACKS!
