I had lived with chronic pain for as long as I can remember. I don’t remember life without some variation of pain. Everyone would always ask if it was a sports injury - it wasn’t. It was just a way of life. Neck and back issues run in my family and unfortunately, it was handed down to me.
As a regular at the chiropractor for so many years, I was just trying to mask the pain praying it would one day go away. A friend recommended trigger point dry needling. I wasn’t pumped about needles in my neck, but I would try anything to reduce my pain. After one dry needling session and traction, I stood up and felt no pain. That lasted about 10 seconds, but it was all I needed to know I could not live life like this any longer.
Virginia Spine Institute and Dr. Haines were actually my second opinion. The first surgeon I saw suggested a more invasive procedure (double fusion). Being desperate, I booked the surgery. I made an appointment with Dr. Haines to get a second opinion that surgery was indeed my only option. After my initial consultation, I felt more comfortable trusting my spine to him and the Virginia Spine Institute team. His approach was more modern (hybrid fusion and cervical artificial disc replacement) and gave me peace of mind. I canceled my other procedure when I walked out of Dr. Haines' office.
My friends and family are ecstatic I received the treatment. They no longer have to witness my constant neck cracking. My only regret is that I didn’t have spine surgery years ago. It has literally changed my life. Soon after my surgery with Dr. Haines, my now fiance proposed to me - likely because I am now a much happier person! Now all my free time is consumed with wedding planning. I couldn’t imagine this wedding stress on top of pain. I am so looking forward to my new life as a pain free Wife!
Thank you to my team!
