Colin M. Haines, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Virginia Spine Institute in Reston.
He specializes in treating degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions and complex spinal deformities. He makes an effort to utilize motion-preserving surgical techniques such as cervical disc replacement and laminoplasty instead of conducting a cervical spinal fusion procedure.
Dr. Haines is a reviewer of BioMed Research International Journal and earned first place in the American College of Spine Surgeons’ 2013 research competition. He has many publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research all over the world.
After obtaining his medical degree at the State University of New York in Buffalo, Dr. Haines completed his residency at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Colin Haines is a board certified spine surgeon and the Director of Research at Virginia Spine Institute. Dr. Haines performed the world’s first combined endoscopic and robot-guided spine surgery.
