Blair Simonetti shares with us her thoughts on why she loves being a PA. She joined VSI in 2011 and has found a home here at VSI. Blair is Dr. Good's surgical physician assistant and loves her patients. She loves her experience with our pediatric scoliosis population in watching them grow up and helping them through surgery when needed. She practices medicine with compassion, attention to detail and has a true love for helping others. We wouldn't be the same without you Blair, thank you!

I love being a PA because…

I was first drawn to being a PA because I was fascinated by the human body and how it can be so simple and so complex at the same time. This is undoubtedly why I was drawn into surgery and have loved it. I am interested in people’s lives and improving them. Is there a more rewarding profession than one that allows you to take someone who is in pain and may be at their lowest, and turn that all around?

I love being able to spend time with patients and create relationships, with the concurrent goal of improving their pain and lives.  It is great to know we have gained a skill set to problem solve for others, and on the other hand, there is not a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new about people or medicine. Overall, being a PA is one of the most rewarding jobs, and in the grand scheme of things is an attainable profession for those who are motivated.
