In celebration of National Physician Assistants Week, we are highlighting our PAs and discovering why they became a PA and what they love about their profession. Meet Lindsay Orosz, she's an indispensable PA that we've been lucky to have since 2009. Lindsay was featured this year as our most valued physician assistant. Patient and staff alike all love her and she works tirelessly to provide outstanding patient care. Thank you for all that you do for VSI!

I knew very early on in childhood that I wanted to help people, and eventually that translated into wanting to be a physician. I actually did not know about the PA profession when I focused my career path in high school and college. I was on the pre-med path in college and took the MCAT in preparation for medical school. I also shadowed with an internal medicine physician who, unbeknownst to me, made it his mission to convince me to become a PA. He introduced me to several physicians and surgeons who practiced in a variety of medical arenas. They educated me on the difficulties in practice life, battling insurance companies, and in balancing work and home responsibilities. I was also introduced to a few physician assistants in practice. They were all very happy and had only good things to say about their careers and balancing home life. This made me very interested in learning more about the role of a PA. I eventually decided that having a family and caring for patients were both equally important to me and my future. I applied to PA school, had a wonderful time learning in that environment, and became a certified physician assistant in 2005.

Nearly a decade later, I am pleased with my decision and have never looked back in regret. I love my career and my family. I have two rambunctious boys ages 3 and 1.5yrs who keep me on my toes! I am so thankful for that physician that took the time to guide me in the right direction.
