National Physician Assistants Week PA Spotlight: Thao Allen
As we celebrate National Physician Assistants Week here at VSI, we asked our PAs why they become a PA and what attracted them to the profession. The first of our Physician Assistants to weigh in was, Thao Allen who has been a valuable member of our team since 2010. Thao has excelled in her sidekick role with our one and only Dr. Schuler as his surgical PA. She has an infectious smile, is always in a positive mood and lightens up not only our patients lives but her teammates as well. Thank you for all that you do Thao!
The reason I became a PA is to help others. I am honored to be able to impact the lives of others in a positive way. "Improving lives" is a power mantra for all of us here at VSI. To gift hope to our patients provides meaning and motive to coming to work everyday. Being able to witness the journey that our patients go through from the office to the operating room and through their recovery is a testament of the good work that we can do.
As many of Dr. Schuler's patients know, I get to work with Dr. Schuler on a daily basis. Being his sidekick is always fun and challenging. We always try to push the envelope and ask ourselves, "What can we do better for our patients?" Being at the forefront of technology and innovation for spine surgery makes this career really exciting!
