Non-Surgical Solutions Can Resolve
Your Pain

Since not every patient is looking for surgical solutions, nor may be a candidate for surgery, VSI was founded on the principle of providing modern non-surgical solutions to those in pain. We’re unique because 90% of our patients get the results they are looking for without undergoing surgery. We do this by offering a dynamic range of solutions customized to each patient’s needs – and some that are not offered elsewhere. These include natural healing with regenerative medicine, spine-specialized physical therapy, acupuncture, pain-relieving injections, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and diagnostic testing through our team of specialists.

Natural Healing Using Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a modern non-operative treatment solution that utilizes the body’s natural healing process to rebuild damaged tissue, heal injuries more effectively, and eliminate pain. Regenerative medicine targets the underlying source of pain without relying on medication or surgery and leads to increased function and mobility with a shorter recovery time than surgical options.

Pain-Relieving
Injections

Injections of medications to decrease pain and inflammation have long been used in pain medicine as additional, adjunctive treatment to medications. Traditionally, it has always been a combination of a steroid and a local anesthetic agent. The steroid acts to interrupt the inflammatory cascade that leads to pain and swelling. The local anesthetic provides immediate pain relief to provide diagnostic confirmation of the pain generator as well as to break the pain cycle in certain chronic pain syndromes like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and trigger points.

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Radiofrequency Ablation, commonly known as RFA, is an effective long-term treatment for mechanical neck and lower back pain due to joint inflammation. The goal of radiofrequency ablation is to provide long-term relief of joint-mediated pain than regular steroid injections can provide. The treatment is indicated once the joints have been precisely identified as a primary pain generator and steroid injections are only effective for short periods. Radiofrequency ablation is used to treat facet joint and sacroiliac joint pain.

Acupuncture

The term “acupuncture” describes a family of procedures involving stimulating anatomical points in the body using various techniques. The acupuncture technique most often studied scientifically involves inserting thin, metallic, specialized needles into the skin which are then manipulated manually or electrically. Acute musculoskeletal and myofascial conditions such as sprains, strains, spasms, and contusions are among the problems most frequently and successfully resolved with acupuncture. In certain cases, acupuncture can be considered as a first-line treatment.

Most patients feel minimal or no pain as the needles are inserted superficially and remain inserted for 15 to 30 minutes. Acupuncture sessions are usually scheduled once a week for four to six weeks. However, the frequency and length of treatments may vary depending on the condition being addressed.
