Dr. Good’s passion for spine healthcare began at a young age when his father suffered a traumatic spine injury and a failed spine surgery. This life-changing event inspired Dr. Good to pioneer many revolutionary advancements in the field. His goal is to help patients suffering with neck or back conditions get back to the best life possible! Heralded for his compassionate approach, Dr. Good personally connects with each patient to understand their challenges, pinpoint a diagnosis and provide solutions through a custom treatment plan. Dr. Good is a world-renowned spine surgeon and teacher. He was the first surgeon in the world to utilize the revolutionary Mazor XTM Stealth Edition robotic system and he is the most experienced and advanced robotic spine surgeon in the region. He is passionate about using technologies like computerized planning and augmented reality to improve safety in spine surgery. Dr. Good leads the robotic spine surgeon training program for the largest hospital system in the country and his research has shown that robotics improves success for patients having spine surgery. Dr. Good has also helped develop an enhanced spine surgery recovery program (ERAS) which is being studied across the county. This program is helping patients to heal faster with less pain and to use less pain medication after spine surgery. Dr. Good has advanced the use of artificial disc replacement and motion preservation to avoid spine fusion for many patients. Dr. Good was also the first spine surgeon in the region to use stem cell therapy as a natural healing option for lumbar disc disease, helping patients with low back pain improve their quality of life and avoid surgery.
Dr. Christopher Good is a double board certified spine surgeon and the President of Virginia Spine Institute.
