As a subsidiary of Virginia Spine Institute, Virginia Therapy & Fitness Center (VTFC) provides their patients with the very best in rehabilitative care for all types of orthopaedic conditions. This is done through the unique and comprehensive all under-one-roof treatment model.
Manual therapy is a term that implies that the physical therapists use their hands to formulate diagnosis and perform treatment on their patients. Manual therapy treatments can consist of massage, joint mobilization, manipulation, or manual traction. We have fellowship trained manual therapists which is why our PTs are exceptional.
Aquatic therapy is typically the first step in rehabilitation for post-surgical patients or patients suffering from a painful injury. Water serves as a highly effective, nearly weightless environment that offers the ability to improve strength, flexibility, and function to progress recovery. We are able to offer aquatic therapy in our own facility on the aquatic treadmill.
Therapeutic massage is the intentional and systematic manipulation of the skin, muscles, ligaments, and tendons of the body. A combination of different massage techniques are used to target the muscular system and soft tissues of the body to enhance health, promote healing, restore movements, and improve function. These techniques include swedish massage, neuromuscular therapy massage, cupping therapy, and deep tissue massage {most commonly used in patients with muscle pain}.
Our regionally-recognized Concussion Rehabilitation and Therapy Program is led by concussion management leaders who are ImPACT Trained Physical Therapist (ITPT) credentialed. This team of subject experts have devised concussion-focused rehabilitation protocols to provide a comprehensive approach to concussion care.
All of our physical therapists are certified in dry needling. Some even travel all over the country to teach other physical therapists dry needling courses.
Laser therapy is a proven, non-invasive technique that applies a therapeutic dose of light to injured or dysfunctional tissue. The class VI laser energy creates a cellular response that leads to reduced pain and inflammation and faster healing for musculoskeletal conditions. This lasting pain relief treatment has been cleared by the FDA since 2003 and offers a safe alternative to medicine and surgery. Our physical therapists can use this tool on their patients are part of their treatment.
We have physical therapists that specialize in working with athletes. They have worked with high school students, collegiate level, recreational and professional athletes. There are specialized programs for certain sports. They also work in conjunction with an athletic trainer or personal trainer to evolve an athlete’s conditioning and goals. Our facility has the ability to create environments for our athletes to be able to train.
Virginia Therapy & Fitness Center offers individualized and affordable personal training for those looking to improve their strength, posture, and overall wellness. Our licensed personal trainers work directly with our physical therapy staff, as needed, to ensure proper progression for those individuals that are transitioning from physical therapy to the gym setting or for those interested in simply needing guidance or accountability to get them in better shape.
Specialized nutrition coaching is a critical component to our comprehensive wellness services. Nutrition coaching is designed to help you implement small lifestyle changes through education and coaching in order to achieve weight loss, maintenance, or weight gain goals.
