Aryan Shah
Aryan is a Physician Assistant at VSI who works alongside our spine surgeons across the full spectrum of surgical care. Through his education and training, Aryan is prepared to help patients through their full recovery and truly embrace their lives again.
Aryan studied kinesiology at the University of Maryland, College Park, spending nearly three years as an undergraduate research assistant at the School of Public Health. He earned his Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies at Alvernia University and completed an orthopedic surgery rotation at the Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania, performing pre- and postoperative assessments, managing wound checks, and working in the operating room alongside orthopedic surgeons.
He is drawn to the transformation that the right treatment plan can have on patients who have degenerative conditions, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, and deformity. Helping someone get back to what they had given up while dealing with painful symptoms is the part of this work he finds most gratifying, and VSI’s approach to recovery and in-house physical therapy team are a large part of why he chose to be here.
What he most wants patients to know is that they will be heard. Aryan asks questions, then listens to the whole answer. He wants patients to understand their options completely so they can make informed decisions on their care. He learned that from an orthopedic surgery preceptor who taught him to treat the person behind the diagnosis, not just the imaging.
Outside the clinic, Aryan enjoys playing basketball, ultimate frisbee, and football, and he will join a sport even when he does not know the rules yet. He is close to his family and his faith, spends weekends hunting down new coffee shops and restaurants around the region, and has Japan at the top of his travel list.
