WHAT IS ENDOSCOPIC SPINE SURGERY?
Endoscopic spine surgery allows patients to gain relief from neck or back pain through a tiny incision, performed by a skilled spinal surgeon. In place of the traditional large, open incision, endoscopic surgery uses micro incisions and a small, high-resolution camera to reach disc herniations and compressed structures within the spine.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH ENDOSCOPIC SPINE SURGERY?
Endoscopic spine surgery boasts many benefits for patients affected by degenerative disc disease, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, and some conditions requiring a spinal fusion. These benefits include, but are not limited to:
- Reduced post-operative pain due to a smaller incision and minimal muscle disruption
- Minimal to no bone removal preserving the body’s stability
- Increased safety as the high-resolution camera magnifies the affected spinal area
- Improved recovery times
WHAT CONDITIONS BENEFIT FROM ENDOSCOPIC SPINE SURGERY?
Degenerative disc disease and disc herniations are most commonly treated using endoscopic spine surgery and furthermore we are advancing the region of endoscopic-assisted fusions and spinal decompressions.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING/AFTER SURGERY?
Endoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that can be quickly performed while the patient is awake. Using local numbing medications and twilight anesthesia, the entire procedure can take as little as an hour, and the patient is able to move freely and go home soon after.
Endoscopic spine surgery has unleashed new potential for faster, safer, and more effective surgical recoveries.
