Dr. Ehsan Jazini

Spine Surgeon

WHY I BECAME A SPINE SURGEON

My path to becoming a spine surgeon was fueled by a personal experience following a car accident that left my brother with multiple injuries, including spinal fractures and scoliosis. This profound event ignited my commitment to enhancing spine care so that patients could have a brighter future.

Dr. Jazini stands at the forefront of spine surgery, blending technical excellence with heartfelt empathy to support patients on their journey to an improved quality of life. He was recently featured among the Top 4 Disc Replacement Surgeons in the United States. His commitment stems from a personal dedication to delivering the highest standard of care, inspired by his own family experience.

With extensive training in both orthopedic spine surgery and neurosurgery, Dr. Jazini brings a comprehensive perspective to his practice. Starting his career at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and now leading at VSI, his transition to an independent model underscores his dedication to providing each patient with personalized attention and customized care. He spends quality time with each patient to fully understand their challenges and goals for recovery.

Prioritizing non-surgical solutions whenever possible, Dr. Jazini’s approach emphasizes natural healing. Remarkably, the majority of his patients experience significant improvements without resorting to surgery, as a result of natural regenerative therapies such as stem cell therapy and PRP treatments; and spine-specialized physical therapy and lifestyle changes.

Dr. Jazini has pioneered numerous advancements in the operating room. From being the first in the nation to perform procedures like cervical and lumbar disc replacement to leveraging augmented reality (AR) technology for precision surgeries, his methods prioritize patient safety, minimize invasiveness, and accelerate recovery.

Beyond his surgical expertise, Dr. Jazini is a global leader in education and research. His role in the evolution of disc replacement surgery has earned him recognition as a sought-after educator among his peers, enabling surgeons worldwide to elevate their practices and provide an elevated level of care to their patients.

Dr. Jazini’s commitment to patient care extends beyond the operating room. His leadership in developing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols has transformed surgical outcomes, facilitating quicker recoveries and enabling patients to return to their active lives with minimal discomfort.

I came to VSI and Dr Jazini at a point where I could only stand for about five minutes or walk a couple hundred feet without having to sit down. I was in constant pain and had received a couple of diagnosis from other medical doctors that did not leave me much hope of ever getting better. Dr Jazini gave me my life back. Upfront I will say that Dr Jazini is an outstanding surgeon. He listens to your input and concerns and develops a plan to get your issues addressed. The entire team at VSI is outstanding. From the minute you walk in you can tell everyone enjoys what they are doing, and that they are concerned about your wellbeing. If you are having spinal issues, you owe it to yourself to visit Dr. Jazini and his team at VSI.

Dr Jazini is fabulous surgeon with a great bedside manner. I had ACDF neck surgery - 2 level fusion. And one level artificial disc. Had my 3 year follow up last week and have no issues. No pain.

The absolute BEST spine surgeon in Virginia. He did my complicated revision of L3-S1 perfectly and was amazing at explaining everything to me and my family and truly caring about me and checking on me in the hospital when my stay was extended into the weekend. Night and day experience from my first 2 surgeries. Friendly and skilled - a true rarity in the profession. Thank you SO much Dr. Jazini for helping to save my life ❤️

Dr. Jazini is the absolute best. I just had a successful spinal fusion, complement of Dr. Jazini. He was the first doctor who took the time and listened to my concerns about my pain. He is very attentive and listened and made me feel heard. Dr. Jazini and his team, on my first visit to Virginia Spine Institute was welcoming and they were very knowledgeable. He took the time to know me and understand my concerns, and answer all the questions I had about my conditions. He explained what was going on with my back pain so I would understand. Every visit was so educational, I actually looked forward to my visits. The staff were wonderful. I would recommend Virginia Spine Institute if you are having issues with the spine. If you haven’t already, call Virginia Spine Institute to schedule your first appointment. Thank you and my appreciation goes out to Dr. Jazini.

Dr. Jazini is a wonderful doctor. He is kind, compassionate and he gave me back my life. When I came to see him I was in excruciating pain and walking half way bent over. I could not walk upright. He diagnosed my problem, which was a herniated disc in L2 and L4. Dr. Jazini gave options of what could be done and the option I insisted on was surgery to repair the discs. Dr. Jazini was a lifesaver. I am walking upright now and feeling 100% better. I don't know what I would have done without him and if I ever encounter a spine problem again, he will be my "go to" doctor. I can never thank him enough for what he has done for me and I will always be eternally grateful for him. I highly recommend Dr. Jazini. He is my hero.
